I posted this on the Sun Devils Basketball Facebook page as well for anyone on here that is on their also.
I live in St. Louis and Craig Berube, the Blues coach was being interviewed after the team had lost a few games in a row. He spoke about not being overly concerned because the team had played well and was doing what he asked of them. The interviewers spoke of his process-driven approach.
It made me recall my days coaching basketball and how my players would always question me after we won games against inferior opponents and I was getting on them for their play. I always preached to them that I do not focus on wins and losses because we cannot control them. All we can control is how me play. That is what I focus on.
After watching and listening to Bobby Hurley for 5 years it is my opinion that he is entirely results driven. The only time I have really seen him disgruntled with our play after a loss, is if we struggled against a clearly inferior opponent. Any other time, the result is all that seems to matter to him. I think this is why we are able to win big games. But his lack of process driven thinking is also why I think we are so wildly inconsistent. Our team does not seem to recognize a good performance from a bad performance, but rather simple a win from a loss.
